Today could have gone one of two ways….
My friend, Jake had surgery today and I was kept in constant update via facebook. The doctor removed 60 percent of one of the tumors in his brain, and the other will be treated with chemo. He was in great spirits and even joking with the doctors during the operation, that he was fully awake for. AWAKE FOR SURGERY ON HIS BRAIN.
I’ve have been amazed by his positive spirit and attitude towards this whole process. He’s always been someone who was looked up to. The athlete, the scholar (and my main competition, academically.), the heartthrob…and now, the fighter. I’m amazed at the support that has happened and the sheer number of people praying for him.
I’m not someone who people would classify as “religious”. In fact, in the last ten years, I’ve questioned a lot of the things that I grew up believing. However, I have been praying daily about Jake. Because at the root of it, I do believe that prayer and positive thinking works.
